WHY SHABBAT?
Why Shabbat – God commanded us His people to obey His ten commandments right? The fourth one is His weekly SABBATH, therefore 52 times a year! Wow, that’s a lot of times and way more than the other 7 that get celebrated once a year…….. God being our creator knows what’s best for us and is driving an essential point home! After all, He was our role model, created everything in 6 days, and RESTED on the seventh – Mmmmmmm!
For the past 2000 years, I believe that the church has been robbed of this amazing invitation to REST once a week. Our Creator gave this gift to man, the pinnacle of His creation, as a sign of His ownership of us as His people. (Ex 31 v 16 -17). An eternal ordinance where for 2000-odd years, believe our Church forefathers grossly misunderstood and robbed the body of Messiah of its physical, emotional and spiritual healing benefits. All the while many tragically perish from burnout because of the lack of this knowledge!!
This knowledge and wisdom is what God’s Feasts are there for, supposedly to impact our lives hugely for our good. Number 1: A prophetic guideline of Jesus’s first and second coming. 2: To help us STAY dead to self and be alive to Christ. 3: To fastrack our sanctification and 4: To unify His people, Jewish and Gentile as we come together at HIS appointed times. (Lev 23 v 1-3)
The Sabbath is also a weekly prophetic declaration and a (once-a-week) “SHOUT-OUT” to the spirit world, that we are His set apart, chosen ones and treasured possession. The devil HATES these ways because they define us as different from the rest of the world and partly the reason why today the Jewish folk are STILL hated because of it, and so will we be, once we align ourselves with the house of Israel in these last days. The heat is on and we had better prepare for this end game. ( Another huge topic for another time.)
